Notes: Quakelive Map overview credit
http://www.quakelive.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29396
I have found the command to smooth out the tearing
“\cg_filter_Angles 1″
set that to “1″ along with r_displayrefresh the same as your com_maxFPS and it’s smoothed out to the max.
r_finish “1″ helped too.

So on my new machine that I built I have installed Windows Vista (soon to be windows 7 later tonight) and Archlinux. Everything is great, the machine is churning along. I’ve currently started to test the Quakelive linux plugin as I am part of the testing team now. Everything works great except Emulate3Buttons. I use mouse1 to fire the weapon and mouse2 to jump. In order to rocket jump I need to press these two buttons almost simultaneously and when they are both pressed it registers as mouse3 which is the same as middle click. Mouse3 or middle click is set to use item and this does not play well when trying to rocket jump. I’ve added the proper option to Xorg.conf and it works sometimes after a bit and then other times it does not. I beleive the culprit to be Hal since most settings have to be set in the *.fdi files. More to come on this. I will add my findings later tonight or this weekend.

Since I have built a new PC I’ve been looking into temperature monitoring programs.

The two that I am interested in so far are Real Temp and Core Temp.

Real Temp

Core Temp

I am pleased with how small and compact Core Temp is. It provides just enough information and not too much. The one thing that I’m not sure about is if it minimizes to tray. I know Real Temp has that functionality.
